Yesterday we began our research paper process. Students were given a blue handout with 6 potential topics they can write on.
For the brainstorm section, students must write two arguments for each side of every topic. A potential claim for Topic A could be: Humans have an obligation to take care of the world because it is the only one they have been given and it depends on human life to be properly maintained. Notice how I did NOT use personal pronouns. Just like with your last paper I do not want to see personal pronouns at all!

American Literature has been reading The Crucible by Arthur Miller and will have a test on Friday, Feb 10. Major projects/assessments that should have been turned in by this point include: Rhetorical Essay, Body Bios, and the study guides from Act 1 and 3.

Step 2. your initial claim. An example of an initial claim is as follows: Citizens of the world do not have an obligation to the environment due to the fact that a greater force created it the way it is supposed to be. If humans were to tamper with it, it would change the natural process and begin relying on man-made help. Please copy this in the section in your packet that says, "examples from Coach Kayler" Remember that your initial claim can be one to two sentences. Once you have your initial claim it can be tweaked, but your stance on the claim must remain the same. You must also complete step 3: Annotated bibliography page. This should be pretty easy considering you have already found four sources. Be sure to follow ALL the directions thoroughly on the page. So yes, you do need to find two more sources. Also, remember this should be in APA format despite what the packet says. And finally, begin step 4. Again, follow All the directions thoroughly to get credit. 10/5: Finish "Nature" rewrite
